Hardware components

Mouse:   A mouse is a component that is connected to the computer through a USB. The mouse is used on the computer and functions by a person’s hand.

The mouse can change any part of any image simply by the user clicking on either the right or left button and clicking on a colour or an icon to change an image’s size or shape

Monitor: A monitor is used to display the graphics so that you can see what you are manipulating.

With the computer monitor you are able to see what changes are being made to the image, and also how to make those changes.
Without the computer monitor you are unable to see if the changes that are being made are the right changes or not.

Graphics Tablet: A graphics tablet is a device that is used as a drawing device for the computer. This means people can draw on the tablet and it will appear on the computer in front of you. With this device they are able to change any aspect of an image.

A graphics tablet can be used to change different aspects of any image on a computer, it can also be used to erase even the tiniest piece of mistake made on an image. Graphic Tablets are also used to change colour and re paint a picture and make many other changes.

Digital cameraA digital camera is a hand held device, it is used to take pictures of almost anything and is also built in a way that it can record videos of everything around you. Digital cameras also have automatic flash built in so that it can make a picture clearer. Sometimes the flash is not always the best option as the lighting may be adequate but you have added a flash and the picture is too bright but flash works best at night i think.

Flash cards: A flash card is a miniature storage device that uses a flash memory chip to store data. Flash cards come in all sizes and the memory can range from 8mb to 64GB
A flash card is used as extra memory or storage in a computer or a digital object for example a  digital camera.

Printers: A printer can be connected to a computer through various cables but now technology has advanced so that we don't need the cables anymore and we can now set up our printers wirelessly.

A printer is used to print your digital graphics out on paper and show the various changes that you have made. The printer can show your graphics in colour or black and white. A printer can now have many different features now due to technology. Your printer could double as a photocopier or a fax machine.

Hard drive: The hard drive is the computers main storage device that permanently stores all data on the computer.

This is useful for digital graphics because you are able to save any changes that you have done or any pictures or animations that you have created and do not want to lose them.

Graphics card: graphics card is the part in your computer that handles generating the signals that are sent to the monitor and creating graphics. It's responsible for generating all the text and pictures that are displayed on your screen. It is called a card because most PCs will have an actual card that is inserted into a slot inside the motherboard. Some motherboards have built-in graphics cards and no longer separate.

The graphics card will generate the pictures for you and will also create any text that you wish to put in.

Processor(s):A central processing unit (CPU), also referred to as a central processor unit, is the hardware within a computer that carries out the instructions of a computer programme by performing the basic mathematical, logical, and input and output within the system.

The processor will basically do everything for you, it will use the graphics card to create the pictures, it will utilise any devices that you have attached e.g. webcam, mouse, keyboard and graphics tablet etc.

RAM: Random-access memory (RAM) is a form of computer storage. A random-access device allows stored data to be accessed by various programmes.

The RAM is useful for digital graphics as it will save any changes you have made or any images you wish to keep or access in a different programme.
